Setting Sun and traffic jam

VIP movements created  a huge traffic jam on the way back home from the site on Sultan Qaboos Road at Muscat and the column of cars moving inches at times. Suddenly along the curving road i saw the setting sun on side mirror and the next instance was pulling out my camera from my bag to capture the same along with a long line of vehicles behind me

 It took me over 1 hour 20 minutes to reach my home 18 kms away on that day....on a normal day takes just about 20 minutes !!!

Anger Day being celebrated today

Browsing the net today I got to know that the day is being celebrated as World anger day…WTF is this world coming down to?? Celebrating Anger …heights of foolishness I would say!! Am I angry because of this…yes I am, for there are much better things to do instead of celebrating Anger.

  

Now if we dissect anger we would find that this reaction is basically an offensive action taken when a person is cornered, threatened or the ego is hurt. We need to be very careful the way we express this anger … it can break relationships, hurt loved ones or become violent. No wonder they ask you to slowly count to ten when you feel that your anger is rising…to dissipate the same and to avoid unpleasant scenes thereof. But then not all persons are able to control their anger successfully and what follows next is a shouting match that may lead to violence. There are several other reasons for a person to get angry – hurt, humiliation, and injustice, loss of control and our inability to cope with a situation. When we feel pressed, pushed and pressured, we react with anger. 

It is said that anger is a letter short of danger and I am sure most of us would be aware of numerous occasions /incidents that have been sparked by anger creating dangerous consequences in the present times. The recent shooting in USA at a Gurudawra killing 9 persons, shooting at New York killing 2 persons or beheading of 17 youngsters in Afghanistan by Taliban or that of Jatinderjeet Singh who shot out the tires of his neighbor’s car at Mohali have all been done in fits of anger.

Well you find all kinds of personalities in this world and there are some who are constantly angry….normally known as “kadoos “and I am sure those are the ones celebrating today!!! So to all the angry people in this world …”Happy Anger day” ….LOL!!!!

 Lot more photographs has been taken today and in next 4 days i am sure many more would be clicked as it is holidays here at Oman on account of Eid Al Fitr.

Yiti Beach -Oman

Weekend morning plans afoot to go for a swim in the beach so we set off towards Yiti beach. When you hear Yiti it immediately brings to mind the Abominable snowman similar to the Bigfoot that are supposed to be residing on the slopes of Himalayas but then I can assure you would not see them here. Drive over the mountains on the way to Yiti is quite pleasant and the route is the road to Barr al Jissah, Shangri-La and just after the exit to Qantab you need to take a right turn at the roundabout and this road leads to Yiti and Jebel Shifa. 

Single lane road takes you past sleepy village, farms and lots of green shrubs and trees with a small stream along the road. I never knew that there is a wadi here…Wadi Al Mayh. Well we did not go down the dirt road to the wadi as we wanted to reach the Yiti beach and have our swim. After going through the village called Hanshift we came to the end of asphalted road but the beach was not to be seen so took a u turn and returned back to the spot where we had noticed back waters and the rock formation in the sea with lots of development works happening around.

 

Here we were able to reach the beach but then there is no sandy beach ….just rocks but then once the development works are complete I am sure this place would be a very nice place to spend time along the sea shore.

 From this spot to the left you can see the rock formation of Barr Al Jissah and we did see a beach to the right just after the village but were not able find the road leading to it. 

We saw a hawk sitting on a post jutting out of the back waters and it looked quite magnificent.

 

 So we decided to head back to Qantab beach for the swim. As we were turning into the Qantab beach road we saw signs put up stating the “Road closed” and “Entry only to construction vehicle” yet we proceeded to the beach where few Oman Cabs were parked and three persons swimming in the beach. So finally we had our dip in cool waters, hardly any wave here but the currents are pretty strong. After the swim we noticed few cabins placed and it looked like the offices for the proposed construction that is going to take place at this beach. 

Thus the Friday morning outing comes to an end and back to work from tomorrow till the next weekend when possibly we would have the Eid holidays coming up. Plans for outings during these holidays are on and the tentative locations planned are Jebel Shiffa beach, Jebel Shams, Dolphin watch and so forth and hope it works out as planned.

Nights during the Holy month of Ramadan in Muscat is pretty buzzing with shops open till wee hours in mornings and one such night at about 11.30pm I took this picture
